The Road Less Taken: The Story of Travis Owens

Possible Presidential Candidate | Owens 2028

Travis Owens never planned to run for president. In fact, if you’d asked him twenty years ago, he probably would’ve laughed at the idea. But like millions of Americans, his story didn’t unfold along a straight line—and that’s exactly why he’s ready to lead.

Born in Denison, Texas, the same birthplace as Dwight D. Eisenhower, Travis’s early life was shaped by instability, hardship, and the kind of lessons you don’t learn in a classroom. This is where the struggle began. His mother, an OTR driver, possibly married, began to neglect him. By 3 he was given to unknown parties where he suffered abuse, mentally and physically. Nearing 7, he was found and almost found a new home with the sheriff that found him. He was ultimately placed with relatives, where he moved around family until a distant cousin and their family took him in. Dealing with trauma and the results from the abuse, he struggled throughout school. By 17, he was on his own, by choice—facing the adult justice system, surviving homelessness, and learning the harsh truths of life from the bottom rung of society.

He didn’t go to Harvard or Yale. He went to Job Corps—where he earned a certificate in culinary arts—and to the streets, where every job was a lifeline and every day demanded hustle. He worked carnivals and traveled across the country, learning what America looks like from the margins: from Montana to Chicago, Tennessee to Texas, and Kansas to California. He didn’t just survive—he built a life. He listened, he learned, and he found power in community.

For over a decade, Travis organized quietly—supporting causes he believed in, helping others navigate systems he had once been swallowed by, and using his creativity to build platforms that gave voice to the voiceless. In Kansas, he worked on grassroots projects. In California, he helped develop independent media and mutual aid networks. Along the way, he saw the cracks deepen: in healthcare, in housing, in mental health, and in democracy itself.

Travis is running for president in 2028 because he believes this country is starving for authenticity—for leadership that isn’t bought, trained, or sanitized. He’s running because corporate politics has failed, and we can’t afford another cycle of hollow promises from disconnected elites. He’s running not just to win a campaign but to wake up a generation that feels unheard, unseen, and unsatisfied with the status quo.

He brings a platform rooted in universal healthcare, housing as a human right, the decriminalization and medical acceptance of cannabis and psilocybin, and a fierce commitment to treating people the way we want to be treated—guided always by the Golden Rule.

He’s not polished. He’s real.
He’s not perfect. He’s honest.
He’s not a politician. He’s one of us.

This campaign isn’t about building a brand. It’s about building a future where the people who’ve lived through the struggle finally get a seat at the table. Or better yet—flip the table over and build something new.

Travis Owens is ready. And if you are too, let’s go.
